Contacted LED-UK Lighting after looking at the LoCase Grant program, Berwick Service Station Ltd is an independent, family run Vehicle Service and Repair Centre established in 2001. They recognised that they needed to upgrade the lighting in the main workshop, due to the poor light that the existing fittings gave, especially in the winter when it was dark by late afternoon. The workshop contained a mixture of 8 x 250W shoebox lights, 6ft 70W T8 and 5ft T8 58W tubes, along with the 4 x 250W forecourt canopy lights, which are expensive to run. Some of fitting were failing and in need of replacing, Richard was also keen to reduce their ongoing maintenance and electricity costs.
They contacted us and asked for a free lighting survey, to see how we could enhance the lighting in the workshop and forecourt canopy lighting.
The Solution by LED-UK
In the main workshop, the 8 x 250W Shoebox lights have been replaced with a completely new fitting. 6 x 150W LED High-bay light in 5000K, cool white with 18000Lm, due to the enhanced light output they give a greater uniformity of light across the whole workshop. The existing 70W, 6ft and 5ft 58W T8 tubes mounted around the wall of the workshop and in the tyre-bay have been retro fitted with 30W/25W LED tubes, in 5000K.The forecourt canopy lights were also in need of replacement, two of the four 250W sons had failed and the mounting plates was very corroded on all four lights. These were replaced with 150W LED forecourt/ canopy lights, along with a newly manufactured fitting plate. These are much brighter and because of the high CRI, giving out a more natural light. With a cleaner and enhanced look all the areas, they are now happy with the results.
Berwick Service Station Ltd would get a complete return on its investment in under one and a half years, making this a really good investment. Over a ten period they will have saved over £9737 where the cost of doing nothing would be over £13,477. A difference of £3,740, a worthwhile investment
There were the obvious benefits of lower maintenance costs, a full backup service offered by the company, as well as better working conditions for the staff. The lighting installed was also supplied with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty
